Newland Films recently had the honour of appearing at Supanova Comic Con & Gaming 2025, one of Australia’s largest and most celebrated pop culture events. Drawing over 70,000 attendees across the weekend, Supanova is a vibrant hub where fans, creators, and industry legends come together to celebrate everything from comics and cosplay to film and gaming. This year’s event featured major stars like Sam Heughan (famed for Outlander), alongside countless other actors, artists, and influencers.

As official guests, Newland Films took part in a panel to showcase their film Remotely Famous, share the origins of Newland Films, and reveal exciting upcoming projects. They discussed the inspiration behind the film, the realities of working in independent filmmaking, and the dedication required to bring an ambitious vision to life on a shoestring budget.
During the panel, Newland Films also discussed the origins of their company, which began with a shared passion for cosplay and creative storytelling. They explained how those early beginnings shaped their unique approach to filmmaking and community engagement.
Excitingly, the team revealed they are currently filming a spin-off of Remotely Famous focused on the character Dale, promising fans even more laughs and wild adventures ahead.
